City of Goodyear

The City of Goodyear exists as a result of cotton. It was purchased in 1917 as part of 16,000 acres by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. There was a shortage in rubber as a result of WWI, and cotton was used to help make tires for airplanes at that time.  Goodyear was incorporated in 1946 and officially became a city in 1985.
